Blue spruce reading program
Students in grades one and two read ten outstanding picture books that have been nominated for the Blue Spruce Award. Students will hear all ten books and are invited to vote for their favourite book. Our school's results are then tabulated and merged with the results from other school and public libraries throughout the province. At the end of May, the Forest of Reading Blue Spruce Award winner is proudly announced. During library periods, we discuss what the success criteria is of a good picture book and evaluate each book individually.
